Is my vote really private?

While voting is open, only a cryptographic commitment of your vote is published, so nobody, including the proposal creator, can read your choice from it. When you reveal, your vote becomes public and linked to your wallet so it can be counted and verified. SilentVote keeps votes private during voting; it doesn't make voters anonymous.

What happens if I lose my secret?

Your vote can't be revealed without it, so it won't be counted. Nobody, SilentVote included, can recover it for you. Copy it or download your voting receipt when you commit, and keep it safe until the reveal phase.

Why use two phases for voting?

If votes were visible as they came in, early results could sway later voters. A commit phase (choices hidden) followed by a reveal phase (choices verified and counted) lets everyone decide independently, and the final tally can still be checked on Stellar.
